
Alexis Watkins, a Western Kentucky University student from Louisville, Kentucky, is a student leader for the university’s Intercultural Student Engagement Center (ISEC) Academy. Intercultural Student Engagement Center (ISEC) Academy is a Western Kentucky University initiative/program to assist students that identify as students of color, and/or who are first generation, Pell eligible, and have some need with their transition, persistence, and graduation from Western Kentucky University. Watkins credited the academy for playing such a huge role in her college experience thus far.

Abbie Jones, 19, is an employee at Crafty Hands Yarn Shop in Bowling Green, Ky. She started knitting at the age of 12 with the help of her grandmother. Jones works on projects for charity during her free time. Her current projects include a baby blanket and a cardigan. Jones described the knitting community as having a huge impact on her life. "Knitting is just as much about the community as it is the yarn and needles," Jones said. "I love it because I can be creative and it is both challenging and relaxing at the same time."

Swiper the Fox was recently released onto Lori Dawson's 50 acre property. Dawson uses the process of "wilding up" the mammals in her care to not be tame or dependent on human care for survival. She hopes that after a few weeks of being released into the surrounding woods, he will be able to survive on his own.

Mike Moser, 38, performs multiple shooting drills while practicing for an upcoming match in Alabama while at Silver Creek Conservation Club in Sellersburg, Indiana, on Feb. 11, 2017. Moser began competitively shooting guns four years ago and spends at least an hour a day learning and perfecting skills. "If you are going to devote your time, energy and resources to do something you might as well take pride in that and do it to the best of your ability, and that takes work. If you're not willing to do the work then you aren't willing to do what it takes to win." Moser said.

The event takes place every Tuesday and the charity car show benefits the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation, the Alzheimer's Association, and Hospice of Southern Kentucky.

Lori Dawson, of Wild4LifeKY, believes in the "wilding up" process that teaches animals to not rely on humans for survival. Dawson emphasized why she does not spend much time cuddling or holding the animals, "I want them to fear humans, not to think they will hurt them by any means, but to fear humans so they do not imprint because then it becomes a lot more difficult to release them back into the wild," Dawson said.

Penny Hobbs, 17, is a music education major at Western Kentucky University. She spends her free time playing a wide variety of instruments including guitar, clarinet, drums, and violin.

As part of the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Cemetery Division, Adam, works to ensure graves are prepared for burials. "The job is easy. It's the families that deal with the hard stuff during this time," says Adam.

LaNajha Rogers (middle), 5, has cheered for Highview Youth Sports in Louisville, Kentucky since the she was 3. As one of the older cheerleaders on the Mighty Mites team, she leads her peers in the 'Open up the Barn Door' cheer. "I like cheering more now that I am older. My favorite cheers are when we move and dance around," Rogers said.

Louisville, Ky- Denise Asher, 44, of Salem, Indiana completed the 37th Annual Rodes City Run 10K in 1:20:00. This year the Rodes City Run introduced state-of-the-art race timing from ChronoTrack in an effort to simplify the timing process for athletes. This is the second race of the Triple Crown Series leading up to the Kentucky Derby festivities. Net proceeds are donated to the WHAS (TV station) Crusade for Children fundraising event.

Allen Crum, 5, spends time with other students at the F.O. Moxley after school program doing homework and playing games. Crum recently learned "AT" words and shows what he learned in his 'at bat' craft. "I like school. I like to read," Crum said.
